ENJOY !

In August of 2004 I was flown out to L.A. to spin the bboy summit, And what an amazing trip it was. Crews from all over the world come to this event, its like a week long event...and anybody whos into bboy/bgirl culture is there. All the legends like my fam The Floor Lords/ Flava Squad
Grandmaster Caz, and D.S.T were there spinning as well. At one point D.S.T drops Beyonce's crazy in love !?! Now no disrespect to a dj of that stature...but my man...its a bboy jam. Needles to say Asia got on the mic and fixed that real quick.
Now, on with my trip...I called the homie J-ROCC (BEATJUNKIES) to let him know id be in town, so he invited me up to power 106
for Friday Night Flavas (r.i.p) with Mr.Choc, Truly Odd, and C minus. I didnt have serato at the time, so this was all vinyl. I remember getting really really stoned off some cali kush...never do that before going up to the radio !
J-Rocc was kiling shit as usual...whats a trip is people always think Amir and I are from NYC..when we are from Dorchester/Roxbury...
I played joints from Buari, Eddie Grant, Rimshots and some other shit....really all I brought was bboy related records minus a few mellow joints...I think this was also the 1st time Matt Cassell got any burn on the radio...after I played "In My Life" jaws dropped and Mr. Choc was like ...."what the fuccckkkkk izzz that" ? Well, yall should know about Matt by now, after comping that jam on BBE. So, I stumbled on to this mix that somebody had recorded...thank god cuz I never heard it til today !
Anyway heres the link

TEE DOT OH !

Yeeeaaaa....thats right TORONTO. I had not posted anything about this gig for the simple fact that I really had no pics, or any of the audio that was recorded that night. So, now I got the audio to share with y'all. It was a great night, the bboys out there are also down with my fam from Boston, legendary Floor Lords. Shouts to all the heads that rolled to this show, danced and got loose. Shouts to the Heavyweight crew for having us...a lovely time was had, hope to come back out again.
Heres both my set and Amirs...live in the mix.

Where should I start ? I was in Europe for a month or so, spun some really ill parties. Im gonna post pics in order so...I hit up London, Munich, Slovenia, Barcelona, Paris, Manchester. Shouts to all my people in London...Massssive shout to my favorite of favorites ...Chesca !!! BBE records, Spindoctor, Sean P, Benji b....Met alot of people along the way. The party at Herbal was fun..Jazzman Gerald dropped some 45s...and Evil d spun as well.

LONDON

MUNICH

Munich was doooope. Always good to see Florian Keller ...super nice guy, great dj, not to mention some incredible records.
We had dinner with Theo, then went to the party.
We had a blast playing that night, toward the end we were going 3 for 3 , from John Gibbs Trinidad to Salt's hung up...lots of drunken Germans and you know the party dont stop there.....

6 AM ...
We then went to a bar with a tree growing inside of it !!, that had this bomb-ass mac n cheese and onion jumpoff !

6'4 + POSSE

LJUBLJANA, SLOVENIA !

I didnt know what to expect out here...
The crowd here was was amped... getting down to funk/latin/disco/boogie. Shouts to BORJA and WOODY and the BBOYS in the house....good looking out! I even heard what I think was some Yugoslavian version of TOM JONES !!!!
We hit up some after hours spot , I was told was some official Albanian pizza type snacks called BUREK...which hit the spot.
And of course the shorty with the fattest bubble i did not expect to see out there..Woody and Borja seemed to be thinking the same thing...then somehow Puerto Rico and Brasil came up..

BARCELONA

TONY AND IVAN

This party always kicks ass...1000 heads, BIIIIIIIIIG shouts to Frankie, Ivan, and Tony (dont worry i got some treats for you)
Fly chicas kissing eachother, lots of drinking and hashish smoking, good food, and just an all around incredible vibe.
One of my favorite parties, and the Barcelona crew always looks out.

Paris

I took alot of pics in that famous cemetery where Jim Morrison is buried. We couldnt find Jim...so I took pics of doorways and statues. That party was crazy...WHAT THE FUNK ! shouts to DJ MARRRTIN and SOULIST !!!

MANCHESTER

This was another awesome party thrown by Lee and Al Kent ( million dollar orchestra out on BBE now!! )
Rahaan played as well and we all had a fine time. Heavy, deep disco alllll night long.
Al played some dope edits, basically..you think of a disco song..and im willing to bet he did an edit for it.
Rahaan droppped one of Als cuts from his MDO release on BBE and it sounded..as they say in U.K "ace" Check him out @ www.myspace.com/milliondollarorch
I played some real crowd pleasing joints..and went off into a philly set.
I also got to meet Trus'me ( www.myspace.com/trusme ) while digging at beat n rhythm...who came by that night and blessed me with his lp. Look out for the project we are doing. Hopefully dropping sometime next year.

ME MYSELF AND I

AL KENT, ME, RAHAAN

SOME OF MY SET THAT NIGHT IF YOU REEEEALLY WANT TO SEE WHAT I PLAYED , CLICK ON THE PIC.

Who knows when I update again, I just had the fortune of playing with the legendary BERNARD PURDIE...im waiting on some audio and video from that night...also did APT in NYC with CHAIRMAN MAO and AMIR...Im off to Delaware tomorrow.
I always feel as if I should put a mix for every update...but that seems a bit absurd huh ?
Until next time...

UPDATE!

Ok first off, Amir and i did a mix for Red Bull Music Academy..which can be found here KONANDAMIRREDBULL or you can down load my mix here KONREDBULLMIX This mix is just about all uptempo disco soul...and its LIVE !!! 2 turntables and a mixer...no protools..no programs..no tricks.

Me sweatting my balllz off

Me and Sean P

Yeah...I know its been a while, but Ive been maaaad busy. Most of august was spent chilling at the beach, went to the vineyard and shit like that. Also went to Manchester , U.K to rock this party with Scotlands king of disco AL KENT...check out the site MILLIONDOLLARDISCO This party was off the hook, a crowd that wanted to dance all night to the deepest disco...whistling, hand clapping, foot stomping type jump off...also Sean. P of Better Days (joey negro) fame rocked as well....cant wait to do it again.

Then I returned back to the states...only to fly back overseas for about 2 weeks with my partner in crime, Amir.
1st stop was Barcelona, which is a great city..except everytime im there i never have time to really see it. Great people there..another party that was off the hook. We played at Apollo with Fran, and the crew..big shouts to them.

Next up was the Solid Gold party, in Helsinki, which for me has been one of the best disco, boogie, funk, soul, latin type jump offs Ive ever done. All the women there look like models, and they all get down to this music (not like in the usa, where most women who are into this look like left overs from a sha na na cast call) check out Pablos site www.soildgold.fi/ where you can hear really good records, see label scans, look at pics of fly ass women, shaking they asses to shit you dont really get to hear in the state cuz...i really dont know why.

The man himself

Then we hit up Oslo, Norway....that party was packed, but it was kinda weekend warrior style...so girls wanted 80's. I stopped playing Joe Quartermain records and went into typical sat crowd pleaser usa shit...and guess what, it works in Europe too!
All the sing along anthems mixed in with what I really want to play. Besides, I knew when Amir got on and started playing latin 45s for the next hour the crowd would not know what to do...it all worked out perfect.

Next up is Amsterdam. My favorite. A smokers paradise, people always think that the weed is better there...its not, its the same as what i get back here except readily and legally available. Of course the red light district is a sight to be seen...especially if your a dirty gentleman. Big ups to my man Dimmy and K SWISS for hooking shit up, as well as my main man Edson who is like the mayor of Amsterdam...hes co-owner of Patta, which is the ill sneaker boutique.

Me and Dimmy aka Shaft

Me, Amir, and Leon from Waxwell...a good record shop with joints for days.

The Mayor of Amsterdam who always looks out like a champ Edson.

So after that we went to Switzerland, where we were up for about 24 hrs, and could not sleep cuz we had to do interviews. This is where i got sick, cuz i was so beat down. After that we went to London to rock at Cargo, which was a blast, aside from the fact that my left ear was blocked from the airplanes pressure, pushing the nast ass fluid from my sinus' into my ears!

Now im sick with strep..a fever, and I gotta get on a plane fri to rock in l.a. at Firecracker in chinatown. The show must go on right ?

That pretty much wraps it up for now, i will do some more updates soon. Like next week.

DISCO JUICE

Heres another mix I did a while back, I brought a few of these on cd to Europe..sold some, gave some away.
Joints from groups like, Visions of Tomorrow, Grandmaster Lover, Thunderbolt, Hi Fidelity, an exclusive mix of Family of Eves I wanna be loved by you..direct from the masters ! Check it out, plenty of treats on this one.
The pic was from Bus Palladium in Paris, I didnt play any Disco (the Disco ball is in full e.f.f.e.c.t. tho!)...I ran alllloooot of hip hop that night, Amir played some funk but heads were not to open off that... As you can see from the pic I still turned it out.

Rainy Daze

Its raining in Boston..rainy weather is only good for a few things, practicing making babies, keeping plant life alive, and doing music. I'd like to be doing the 1st one...but the latter is whats poppin off instead.
So last night I went to my homie Miguel Sucio's crib. He is one of 2 people I know that can smoke all day (the strongest) like Cheech and Chong. I mean from morning til night. The other is Uncle Percy..a real veteran.
Anyway over the years the Dirty one has collected alot of music I have done (shit I dont even have) from old beats (I will post later) to mixes and pics.
He played me this mix that he said I made for him ...prolly in 2004. I dont remember doing it. Listen to the intro and you can tell why. Theres some quality shit on this..Rick James, Puba, KMD, Gary Bartz, Newban..etc ( why did I put summer madness in the beginning ?) It dont really matter anyway, cuz I never get tired of such bedtime magic jams..works everytime.
KONS4GOTIDIDTHISMIX

WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT

Its mid July, about now is when I usually think ahead..to the cold ass winter that I want nothing to do with any more.
So to help keep my mind right I make mixes like this, some feel good shit. Some may have heard this before cuz I put it together almost 2 years ago.BBE had asked me to do something for radio/press and this was the result.

Im doing laundry and its like 200 degrees is my kitchen...Im going back to my air conditioned room.I cant be bothered with a tracklisting for now but groups like SWEET TALKS,THIRD RAIL,C-BRAND, ONE WAY, BAND WHO FELL TO EARTH, are on this joint...speaking of joints, its about that time.

The mix has been fixed! KONSLIGHT1UPMIX
